The short answer

Fit a putter shaft as part of the whole club. Confirm the connection, target length, head weight, grip and final balance before ordering.

A putter-shaft fitting begins with compatibility, then considers how the shaft changes the assembled club. Feel claims are personal; connection type, length and build measurements are objective.

Identify the connection

Photograph or bring the putter head and current shaft. A straight shaft into the head, a single-bend or double-bend shaft, and an over-hosel construction are not interchangeable. Tip size, insertion depth, bends and orientation must match the head.

Protect the fitted setup

Set target playing length and lie before choosing the component. Shaft weight, grip weight and head weight combine to influence total weight and balance. A premium shaft is not automatically an improvement if the finished build no longer suits your posture or pace control.

Evaluate manufacturer claims carefully

LA Golf describes proprietary materials and construction on its technology page. Treat those as manufacturer claims and compare the shaft in your own head where possible. Check the exact product page because fitting options differ between models.

Examples of incompatible assumptions

A straight .370-tip shaft does not automatically fit every putter labelled .370: insertion style and hosel geometry still matter. A double-bend shaft also establishes offset and face orientation; replacing it with a straight carbon tube changes more than material. Armlock builds bring a different length and balance problem again.

Choose the player setup first through the length-and-lie process, then compare it with the product-specific LA Golf putter-shaft guide.

Record feel in useful language

Instead of calling one shaft simply “better”, note whether impact feels sharper or more muted and whether head awareness changes on long putts. Those observations help compare builds, but they remain personal and should sit beside aim and pace results.

Plan the installation

Do not cut or adapt a carbon putter shaft on the strength of a model name alone. Fix It Golf can assess compatibility through its club repair and reshafting services; discuss a fitting with photos and the desired playing length.
