The short answer
The families share a balancing idea but look and feel different. Narrow the field by fit, aim and pace performance.
L.A.B. Golf putters share the manufacturer’s Lie Angle Balance concept, but they are not interchangeable. LINK, MEZZ, DF and OZ offer visibly different head shapes and can produce different aim and pace responses for an individual golfer.
Group by shape
LINK is the blade-style option. MEZZ.1 is a winged mid-mallet and MEZZ.1 MAX is larger. DF 2.1 has an oversized distinctive footprint, with DF3 offering a more compact interpretation. OZ uses a half-moon mallet form. The official current range helps confirm model names.
Keep fitting constant
Compare candidates at a suitable length and lie. Otherwise, posture or sole position can decide the test before head shape is fairly assessed. Grip and alignment marking also belong in the comparison.
Score useful outcomes
On short putts, record aim and start direction. At medium range, observe strike. On long putts, measure finishing distance. Use alternating sets with the same ball and give unfamiliar shapes enough strokes to settle without endlessly adapting technique.
Make a practical shortlist
Select the two heads that produce the clearest setup and most predictable pattern, then compare complete builds. A local putter fitting can guide that process. Contact Fix It Golf if you want to bring your present putter as a baseline.
Run a shape ladder
Rather than testing every colour and shaft, arrange candidates from narrowest to largest address footprint: LINK, MEZZ.1, MEZZ.1 MAX and a DF model, with OZ placed alongside the mallets if available. Hit a small, equal set with each at a suitable specification. Eliminate only for a repeatable reason such as aim bias, uncomfortable setup or dispersed pace. The range overview introduces each family; the comparison protocol helps score the finalists.
Decision checkpoint: Keep one finalist from each genuinely suitable shape group rather than several cosmetic versions of the same head. Shaft and colour choices come after the head-and-fit decision.
